Remaining Neutral was founded in 2021 by singer and song writer Josh Carland, along with drummer Daniel Vandernick. Later that year Derek Lynn was recruited to play bass for the band. The three have to this date been the only members that have been recruited since its founding in 2021. There have been problems beyond any of the members control that have delayed performances as well as recordings of the written material. As of January 2026, three works have been released. The first has been an EP titled "Starting Over Again," (Recorded by Josh and Daniel only as this was prior to Derek joining. Released on February 5th, 2021). Th second released was "Progress To Something," (This release contained music composed by all three members.) released on October 8th, 2024.) Not long before the actual release of "Progress to Something," Derek and Daniel both could no longer be a part of te line up, due to uncontrollable personal reasons, although not departing on bad terms. Still as of early 2026, Josh Carland is the only active member due to these problems. Josh has been indecisive on recruiting any more players as well, due to the continuous health problems that prevent him from being able to fully commit any longer. So this has made the future of all this, not yet decided. Despite the intenal problems, a new release has happened that consists of unreleased versions of some songs, as well as songs that have not ever been released. This work titled, "The Archives: Volume 1.0," was released on January 20th, 2026. Two songs written and recorded in 2006 are among some tracks that had never been released widely. The band was called "Prominence," then and since it has been over 20 years since these were written and recorded, it has been purposely decided to at least have some of those older songs released. They have been also remastered, needless to say since as well.
